How To Solve

WELCOME TO SEIZE THE STONES 4 EASY RULES

How to Solve

Rule 1
Each stone on the board must have at least ONE OPEN ADJACENT POINT either horizontally or vertically to remain on the board.
Rule 2
A stone that touches another stone or stones of the same color along vertical or horizontal lines is connected to that other stone or stones. These stones share OPEN ADJACENT POINTS and form a Group.
Rule 3
Stones of the same color that are diagonal from each other do NOT touch each and they are NOT connected and they do NOT form a Group.
Rule 4
If a stone or a Group of stones has only ONE OPEN ADJACENT POINT and a stone of the opposite color is played on that point then that stone or Group is SEIZED and that stone or Group is removed from the board.

Objectives

The objective of each Puzzle is to SEIZE the Group of stones formed from the first “X” marked stone or Group of “X” marked stones which will remove them from the board solving the Puzzle.

Each Puzzle starts with one stone or a Group of stones marked with an “X” or “X’s” that has two OPEN ADJACENT POINTS.

In order to run and solve the Puzzles you need to use the freeware MULTIGO app which can be downloaded at the following link:

https://www.ruijiang.com/multigo/download.php

Click on “Multigo 4.4.4” and follow the directions.

After installing the program you launch it then you will see:

To load a Puzzle in the MultiGo program click on FILE in the top left corner from the pop-up menu select OPEN.

Finally, you can choose the Puzzle you wish to solve from the folder where you saved them on your computer by double left clicking on it.

How to Seize

  1. To begin to SEIZE the “X” marked stone or Group of stones click on the black/white stone Icon highlighted above and place the cursor on one of the two OPEN ADJACENT POINTS of the “X” marked white stone or Group of “X” marked white stones. Click  and a black stone will appear which leaves that stone or Group of stones with only ONE OPEN ADJACENT POINT.
  2. Next it is the Puzzle’s turn which you make by placing the cursor on the other OPEN ADJACENT POINT and clicking which will make a white stone appear.
  3. The Puzzle now has two OPEN ADJACENT POINTS
  4. Continue playing by placing your cursor on one of these two OPEN ADJACENT POINTS and then click and again a black stone will appear leaving the Puzzle with only one OPEN ADJACENT POINT. You then place the cursor on the other OPEN ADJACENT POINT and click to make a white stone appear which again will give the Puzzle two OPEN ADJACENT POINTS.
  5. Repeat this process until you fill in the last OPEN ADJACENT POINT of the Group formed from the first “X” marked stone or Group of stones causing them to be SEIZED and removed from the board solving the Puzzle.  Be careful because the Group you are trying to SEIZE may escape by connecting to another stone or Group with too many OPEN ADJACENT POINTS to be SEIZED or they may even SEIZE your stones if you’re not cautious.

Hints

Fortunately, the correct solution is hidden to the right of each Puzzle. To access it, place your cursor on the vertical line on the right side of the Puzzle and drag it to the left. A pop-up arrow at the bottom left of the solution allows you to scroll up and down to find the correct move. Use this only if you are really stuck.

If you get stuck, you can return to a prior position by clicking the

highlighted < reverse icon in the toolbar and try a different variation.

THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE IS TO ENJOY!

Examples of OPEN ADJACENT POINTS and Groups are on the next page.

Each and every stone on the board must have at least ONE OPEN ADJACENT POINT either horizontally or vertically to stay on the board or the stone can create an OPEN ADJACENT POINT by filing in the last OPEN ADJACENT POINT of a stone or a group of stones of the opposite color which would remove them from the board. These stones have been SEIZED. Stones of each color that touch each other along vertical or horizontal lines are connected to each other and share common OPEN ADJACENT POINTS as a group and can be SEIZED as a group which is the goal of each puzzle. NOTICE stones that are diagonal from each other do not touch each other and do not share OPEN ADJACENT POINTS and can be SEIZED separately from each other.
Each puzzle starts with one stone or a group of stones marked with an “X or “X’s” which have two Open Adjacent Points. The goal is to SEIZE this stone or group of stones by filing in the last OPEN ADJACENT POINT.
You will need a pencil with an eraser in case you make a mistake.
You place an “O” on one of the two OPEN ADJACENT POINTS and next you play the Puzzle’s move by placing an “X” on the other OPEN ADJACENT POINT.
The Puzzle now has two OPEN ADJACENT POINTS again.
You play your “O” on one of these OPEN ADJACENT POINTS and the Puzzle with your help places its “X” on the other OPEN ADJACENT POINT,
Again and again, this process is repeated until you fill in the Puzzle’s last OPEN ADJACENT POINT and they are SEIZED or the stones you are trying to SEIZE escape by connecting to another stone or group of stones with too many OPEN AADJACENT POINTS to be SEIZED or sometimes they can even SEIZE your stones if you are not careful.
Fortunately, if you turn the page, the correct solution is given showing each move THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE IS TO
ENJOY

OPEN ADJACENT POINTS

The white stone at A19 has two (2) OPEN ADJACENT POINTS(OAP) – one at A18 and one at B19

The white stone at K19 has three (3) OAP – one at J19 and one at K18 and one at L19

The two white stones at S19-T19 have three (3) OAP – one at R19 and one at S18 and one at T19

The three white stones at T13,14,15 have five (5) OAP – one at T16 and one at S15 and one at S14 and one at S13 and one at T12 The four white stones at S8-9 and T8-9 have six (6) OAP – one at S10 and one at T10 and one at R9 and one at R8 and one at S7 and one at T7

The five white stones at T3,2,1 S2,1 have four (4) OAP -one at T4 and one at S3 and one at R2 and one at R1

The white stone at K10 has four (4) OAP – one at K11 and one at J10 and one at L10 and one K9

The two white stones at J14 and K15 do not touch so each white stone has four (4) OAP – J14 has one at H14 and one at J15 and one J13 and one at k14 and the white stone at K15 has four (4) OAP one at J15 and one at K16 and one at K14 and one at L15 The five stones at M1-2, N2, O12 have one (1) OAP (internal) at N1 and black can play on that OAP because black SEIZES the white stone which removes them from the board and gives the just played black stone at N1 five (5) OAP – one at M1 and one at M2 and one at N2 and one at O1 and one at O2

The eight (8) white stones at D1-2, E2, F1-1, G2, H1-2 have two separated OAP at E1 and G1 and black can not play at both points with one move so a Group of stones with two (2) separate OAP is UN-SEIZEABLE!!!

The eight (8) white stones at B1-3, C1,2 and D1-3 have only one (1) OAP at C6 making this Group SEIZEABLE

The thirteen (13) white stones at B11-15, C11,13,15 and D11-15 have two separated OAP – one at C12 and one at C14 making this white Group UN-SEIZEABLE
